Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti

✨SKWOODLE WOMAN ✨Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti was a teacher, leading women’s rights activist in Nigeria and political campaigner against colonialism forming part of the delegation that negotiated Nigeria’s independence from Britain in the 1950’s. She was also the first woman to drive a car in Nigeria! She founded the Abeokuta Women’s Revolt, one of the most impressive women’s organizations of the twentieth century (with a membership estimated to have reached up to 20,000 women), in recognition of the fact that women need to be better educated and have to be properly represented in the political space. Her union encouraged women’s literacy and political participation. #skwoodlewomen
