Ruth Bader Ginsburg

✨SKWOODLE WOMAN✨ “Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” – Ruth Bader Ginsburg.⠀
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a powerful advocate for gender equality and is the second woman to be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. She recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of her judicial oath on the US Supreme Court. She made the law review at both Harvard and Columbia law schools and graduated at the top of her class at Columbia. During her time at Harvard, Ginsburg learned to balance life as a young mother and her new role as a law student. She also encountered a very male-dominated environment, with only eight other females in her class of more than 500. The women were chided by the law school’s dean for taking the places of qualified males. But Ginsburg persevered and excelled academically, eventually becoming the first female member of the prestigious Harvard Law Review. After her graduation, despite her academic excellence, she was rejected for the most prestigious judicial clerkships and spurned by law firms, but again she persevered. When she failed to land a law firm job, she turned to teaching, then became a women’s rights lawyer and eventually won a federal appeals court seat. As a Supreme Court justice since 1993, she has authored scores of opinions that have helped set the course of the law, particularly on equality. #skwoodlewomen
